Mikurabe Privacy Policy
Toshihiro.nakao ("we", "us") has established this Privacy Policy to explain how the iOS / iPadOS app "Mikurabe" (the "App") handles your information.
1. Our Approach
The App compares two PDFs and shows what was added, deleted, and changed. Your PDFs are read and compared on your device, and your information is stored on your device (and, if you turn on sync, in your own iCloud account). We do not collect it.
- The App does not send your PDFs or comparison results to our servers. We do not operate any servers.
- The only network communication the App performs is for purchasing and restoring purchases through the App Store, and for iCloud sync if you turn it on.
- There is no sign-up or login.
- The App does not show ads, perform usage analytics, or track you.
- The App does not include any third-party libraries (SDKs).
2. Information the App Handles
To compare documents, the App handles the PDFs you choose and the following information:
- The contents of the PDFs you choose (read on your device for the comparison; the App never saves copies of the PDFs elsewhere)
- Comparison records (the names of the two files compared, information pointing to where the files are, comparison settings, the date and time, the number of changes, and an identifier used to tell devices apart)
- The list of changes (the type of each change, page numbers, clause headings, and excerpts of the text before and after)
- The accept or reject decisions and notes you add to each change
- AI summaries (a topic and a one-line summary for each change)
- Values derived from the file contents to recognize the same pair of files (used to count the free comparisons and to keep your decisions and notes with the right pair)
- Your settings, such as how documents are compared
Information about other people in your documents
The PDFs you compare may contain details of people other than you, such as the name or address of the other party to a contract. If excerpts of changes include such details, they are likewise handled only on your device and in your iCloud account, and we never receive them.
3. Where Your Data Is Stored
- The information above is stored in the App's private storage on your device and may be included in your device backups.
- iCloud sync (Full Unlock; off by default): Only if you turn on sync in Settings, comparison records (file names, comparison settings, date and time, number of changes, and the device identifier) and the list of changes (including excerpts of the text before and after) are stored in the private area of your own iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit) and synced across devices signed in with the same Apple Account. We cannot see the contents of this area. The PDFs themselves, the information pointing to where the files are, your decisions and notes, and AI summaries are never synced.
4. Access to Device Features
The App does not ask for access to your camera, photos, location, contacts, microphone, or similar features. It reads only the PDFs you choose in the file picker or share sheet.
5. On-Device Processing
Reading text from PDFs and comparing them happen on your device. Text recognition (OCR) of scanned PDFs (OCR Add-on) uses Apple's built-in features on your device. AI summaries are created on supported devices with Apple's built-in on-device AI (Apple Intelligence). In every case, the contents of your PDFs and the text read from them never leave your device.
6. Exporting and Sharing
The App lets you create PDFs marked up with the differences, change summaries (PDF and text), and reply drafts, and share or copy them in the way you choose (email, saving to Files, other apps, and so on). Temporary files the App creates on your device for exporting are deleted by the App. Sharing happens only when you do it, and how the information is handled after that is up to the service you use and the people who receive it. The App never sends anything outside on its own.
7. In-App Purchases
The paid features "Full Unlock" and "OCR Add-on" are purchased through Apple's App Store. Payment information is handled by Apple, and we never receive it. The App checks your App Store purchase history to confirm whether you have purchased them and records the result on your device.
8. Sharing With Third Parties
Because the information the App handles is never sent to us, we do not share it with any third party.
9. Deleting Your Data
- "Delete All" (「すべて削除」) on the History tab deletes comparison records, lists of changes, decisions and notes, and AI summaries. If you use sync, they are also deleted from iCloud and your other synced devices. Your PDFs themselves are not deleted.
- "Delete from iCloud" (「iCloud から削除」) on the Settings tab deletes all information stored in your iCloud account, including what your other devices stored, and stops sync.
- Deleting the App removes the information stored on your device. Information stored in iCloud remains. You can also delete it from iCloud in the iOS Settings app under your name > iCloud > Manage Account Storage.
10. Children
The App is a business tool for reviewing documents and is not directed to children under the age of 13.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes take effect when the updated policy is posted on this page.
