Utsusu Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how the iOS app "Utsusu" (the "App") handles your information.
1. Information Collected by the Developer
The developer of the App does not collect your personal information or any data you capture or enter in the App.
- The App does not include any mechanisms (including SDKs) for analytics, advertising, or tracking.
- Photos taken with the App and your project and board records are never sent to the developer's servers. The developer does not operate any servers of its own.
2. Information Handled on Your Device
The App stores the following information that you capture or enter on your device:
- Project records (project name, client name, contractor name, and settings such as the range of survey stations)
- Photos you take (photos with the board composited, originals without the board, and reduced images for list views)
- Records for each photo (date and time taken, board contents such as work type and station, sketches, and a fingerprint (SHA-256) of the original)
- Board presets, records of photos moved to the trash, and a history of changes to photos and projects
The change history includes an ID used to tell which device made a change. This ID is a random value created when the App is first launched, and it contains no information that identifies your device or you.
3. Camera
The App asks for permission to use the camera in order to take construction photos with a board. Photos you take are stored on your device as described above, and the App never sends them anywhere automatically (except for syncing via iCloud).
4. Location (Optional)
The App may ask for permission to use your location, only while the App is in use, for the feature that records where a photo was taken.
- When you use this feature, the latitude, longitude, altitude, and similar data at the time of capture are saved in the photo's record and in the location information inside the photo file (Exif GPS data).
- If you export or share photos with location recorded, the photo files and CSV will include where they were taken. If you do not want others to know where your photos were taken, do not use this feature.
- Even if you do not allow location access, you can use all features except recording the capture location.
5. Syncing via iCloud
If iCloud sync is turned on in the App's settings and you are signed in to iCloud on your device, the records and photos above are stored in your own iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit private database) and synced between your own devices signed in with the same Apple ID.
- Synced data resides in your iCloud, and the developer cannot view or access it.
- If sync is turned off or you are not signed in to iCloud, no syncing takes place and your data is stored only on your device.
- The App uses Apple's notification system to receive changes to data in iCloud. These notifications are used only for syncing, and the App does not send you any visible notifications.
- Data in iCloud is handled in accordance with Apple's Privacy Policy.
6. Exporting and Sharing Photos and Ledgers
Photo ledger PDFs, photos with the board, originals, photo list CSVs, and similar files are passed only to the destination you choose (such as your photo library, Files, Mail, or other apps), and only when you perform a save or share action. The App never sends them anywhere automatically.
Exported photos include the date and time taken, and photos with the board also include the board contents and the fingerprint (SHA-256) of the original. Photos with location recorded also include where they were taken (see Section 4).
7. In-App Purchases
In-app purchases in the App are processed through Apple's App Store. Payment information is handled by Apple, and the developer never receives your payment information. The App refers to purchase information provided by Apple on your device to check whether you have made a purchase.
8. Disclosure to Third Parties
Because the developer does not collect your information, it does not provide your information to any third parties.
9. Information Received When You Contact Us
The contact form on the support page is provided through Google Forms, a service of Google LLC. When you contact us, the developer receives the information you enter (such as the email address to reply to and your message).
- We use it only to answer your inquiry and to investigate and fix problems.
- We do not share it with third parties, except as required by law.
- We delete it once your inquiry is resolved and it is no longer needed.
- Google's Privacy Policy also applies to how the form handles information.
This applies only when you choose to contact us. Using the App never sends information to the developer.
10. Deleting Your Data
- You can delete all data, including projects, photos, and board presets, on your device and in your iCloud by using "Erase All Data" in the App's settings. If iCloud sync is turned off, photos in iCloud are deleted the next time you turn sync on.
- Deleting the App from your device deletes the data on your device.
- You can also delete data in iCloud by managing iCloud storage in your device's Settings.
11. Children's Privacy
The App is intended for people who take and manage construction photos, and it is not directed at children under the age of 13.
12. Changes to This Policy
This Policy may be updated as necessary. When it is updated, the revised Policy will be posted on this page, and the effective date or revision date will be updated.
